Apply for support

For a child whose mother is detained in a jail run by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology. A guardian, a relative, a social worker, a jail officer or a school can apply on the child’s behalf.

Who can apply

A child can be supported when:

their mother is in the custody of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, with legal parental authority over them
they are her biological or legally adopted child
they are 21 or younger, with a birth certificate or other valid identification

What to have ready

You can apply without these, but the Foundation will ask for them before a child is enrolled:

the child’s birth certificate, or other valid identification
proof that the child is the mother’s biological or legally adopted child, such as a birth certificate
the name of the jail where the mother is detained

What happens next

The Secretariat replies
It may call you to check details.
The social worker assesses
The child’s situation is weighed against the Foundation’s selection system, which gives priority to the most vulnerable.
Briefing and agreement
If the child is accepted, the family is invited to a briefing, and the mother signs the Foundation’s terms.

Before you apply

An application does not guarantee support. Places are limited and go first to the children and families in greatest need.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact the barangay, the police or the Department of Social Welfare and Development first.
