Privacy and child safeguarding
The children we serve are among the most exposed in the country to stigma. Protecting their privacy is part of the program, not paperwork.
Our commitments
- We never connect a child to their mother’s case. No child is named on this website, and no photograph is published with a child’s name.
- Photographs are published with consent. Photographs of beneficiaries come from the Foundation’s own events, and are published only with the consent of their families. A family can ask for a photograph to be taken down at any time.
- Report cards are private. Report cards are not published on the website.
- We collect only what we need. Applications ask for what is needed to assess a child’s situation and contact their guardian, and nothing more.
- Access is limited and recorded. Reviewing a report card, changing a scholar’s standing and releasing assistance are all written to an audit log that cannot be edited from the dashboard.
- Everyone who meets beneficiaries is oriented first. Staff and volunteers who work with children and mothers receive safeguarding orientation before they do so.
Safeguarding in the terms mothers sign
Every mother who takes part reads and signs the Foundation’s Terms and Conditions for Mothers Deprived of Liberty and their Children. Two of its conditions are about keeping children safe:
- She must not pose a security risk to the child, to other members, or to the Foundation’s staff.
- She must follow the activities, child safeguarding standards and guidelines of both the Foundation and the jail management.
When something goes wrong, the terms set the order of what happens. The Foundation first offers support, communication, coordination with the child’s caregiver, guidance and a reasonable chance to put things right. Only after that is a mother’s place reassessed, suspended or ended.
The Foundation’s activities with families so far have taken place inside the Makati City Jail, in coordination with its officers, who opened both events there.
Photographs and video on this website
The photographs and films on this website come from the Foundation’s own events. Their captions say where and when each was taken, and never give a child’s name.
If you see a photograph of yourself or your child that you would like removed, write to the Secretariat and it will be taken down.
Personal data
Kidfinity and Beyond Foundation, Inc. handles personal data in line with Republic Act No. 10173, the Data Privacy Act of 2012. Information submitted through this website is used to assess applications, run the scholarship program, reply to enquiries and meet the Foundation’s reporting duties.
You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data by writing to the Secretariat. Some records, such as those behind a release of funds, may have to be kept for a time for audit.
Raising a concern
If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a child connected with the Foundation, or about the conduct of anyone acting for it, write to the Secretariat at kidfinityandbeyond@gmail.com. Concerns are treated in confidence and taken to the Board.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact the police, the barangay or the Department of Social Welfare and Development straight away.
